We got tired of explaining Canada to our HR software.
So we built Hibiscus HR, the platform that understands Canadian employment law from the ground up.
Our mission
Canadian SMBs are underserved by HR software. The big platforms were built for American employment law, and Canadian compliance is treated as an edge case. The result? Businesses either use tools that get compliance wrong, or they hire expensive HR consultants to patch the gaps.
Hibiscus HR is our answer to that. A platform that treats CPP, EI, ESA, ROE, and PIPEDA as first-class features, not bolt-ons. One tool that an operations manager at a 30-person company can actually use, without a full-time HR team.
We're building in Canada, for Canada. Our data stays in Canada. And every feature we ship is designed around the reality of running a business here.
Built in Canada. For Canada.
- Canadian data residency, no cross-border transfers
- CPP, EI, and provincial tax calculations built in
- ESA compliance for the 9 provinces and 3 territories outside Quebec
- PIPEDA-compliant data handling throughout
- ROE generation and CRA remittance support
- Quebec coverage in development, shipping after independent audit

Why I built Hibiscus HR.
Canada and Canadian businesses deserve software that is built for Canada.
I built Hibiscus HR here in Oakville, Ontario, because I believe Canadian businesses are worth building for from the ground up. That means your data lives here. Your support comes from here. And the people making decisions about this product wake up in this country, care about this country, and are building their future in it. Just like you.
It's happened more than once: a Canadian company builds something that works, earns the trust of Canadian businesses, and then gets acquired by a foreign conglomerate. Overnight, local customers become global accounts. Their specific needs get folded into a roadmap they can't see or influence. That pattern is what Hibiscus HR exists to push back against.
Hibiscus HR is my answer to that. It's written by one person, in Ontario, with one job: serve Canadian small businesses running between 5 and 250 employees. No foreign parent company. No global rebrand. No support queue routed three time zones away. When you email us, you get me.
I'm proud of what's being built here, and I mean that in both senses. I'm proud of this product, and I'm proud that it's Canadian-owned, Canadian-hosted, and Canadian-answered. If Hibiscus ever expands beyond our borders, it will be a different product under a different name. What you see here will always belong to Canada.
This country grows great things. I want Hibiscus HR to be one of them.

What we believe
Canada-first
We build every feature with Canadian employment law as the baseline, not as a footnote. CPP, EI, ESA, PIPEDA, and provincial variations are core to our product, not afterthoughts.
Privacy by design
Employee data is sensitive. We store everything in Canadian data centres, follow PIPEDA principles at the architecture level, and give you full control over your data.
Built for SMBs
Big HR platforms are designed for enterprise teams with dedicated HR departments. We're designed for the operations manager who is also doing payroll, also handling compliance, also managing performance reviews.
Practical over perfect
We ship features that solve real problems, not theoretical ones. We talk to Canadian business owners and HR professionals constantly, and we build what they actually need.
