Under Labour Standards Code, s. 36, Canada Day is a paid statutory holiday in Nova Scotia. Stat pay is calculated as: A regular day's pay at the employee's normal rate. In practice this produces roughly one regular day of wages for most employees, though the mechanical formula differs from a straight "day's pay" in ways that matter for irregular schedules, commission earners, and part-time employees.
If the employee works on Canada Day: 1.5× regular rate for hours worked, plus the regular day's pay the employee would have earned.
