How the rule works

Under Employment Standards Act, s. 6, Canada Day is a paid statutory holiday in Prince Edward Island. Stat pay is calculated as: A regular day's pay at the employee's normal rate. In practice this produces roughly one regular day of wages for most employees, though the mechanical formula differs from a straight "day's pay" in ways that matter for irregular schedules, commission earners, and part-time employees.

If the employee works on Canada Day: 1.5× regular rate for hours worked on the holiday, plus the regular day's pay.
